If you a ready to step up your game, here are some additional things you can do. You don't have to wait for others to tell you what to do! With basic knowledge you can help keep families together.
Educate yourself more broadly about immigration issues. Here are some of our pages to help you: Research Reports, Background. Take a look at the Florence Immigrant and Refugee Project, they have many useful resources. Know the rights that every person in the US has, not just citizens! These are listed on the Red Cards that you are already familiar with, but here is a convenient summary.
Visit a small business that is owned by or employs immigrants, and offer to train their employees on how to respond to ICE in the vicinity, what to do if they are stopped, and how to avoid being stopped. Managers and employees should understand the difference between public and private spaces from a legal standpoint.
Ask for time to talk about immigration issues at clubs you belong to and LDs. Train them how to use and distribute Red and Green Cards.
